Welcome
Thanks for visiting Minty Nature Photography. My background as a wildlife biologist tends to influence my preference to photograph natural subjects in compelling, natural light. Although people are in my work from time to time, it is not my inclination to include them. I like to let the land and sea speak for itself. Like many students of nature who aspire for careers in the out-of-doors, I read Sand County Almanac by Aldo Leopold during my formative years. In my view, it is part of the bedrock reading for all would-be biologists or others concerned about the natural world. Although written in the 1940s, its strength has not waned. In its Foreword Leopold said "There are some who can live without wild things, and some who cannot. These essays are the delights and dilemmas of one who cannot." Like him I cannot live without things wild so through my photography I strive to communicate my emotional connection with our phenomenal natural world.
